Sorry such a lapse

Hello fellow Arizona SNBer's. I want to apologize for such a lapse in posting. My personal life had gotten in the way and I needed to take care of that. I do apologize. I have a couple of changes that I wanted to let you all know about.

The first is the addition of links

I have added a few links to yarn stores acorss the valley and also online. There are some great online shops that are out there. While the group doesn't personally endorse any of these shops we know that some of our gals and guys have gotten some great deals at these places both locally and on line.

I have also added some more names to the snb group blogs

The second addition is a big one. If you are interseted in posting information about what may be going on in the valley let me know. We can add you on as a member of this blog. While you won't be able to make changes to the template you can definitely post for others.

If you would like to join please leave your email in the comment section.

We are having a Stitch N' Bitch meeting tomorrow at Changing Hands bookstore. It will run from 6:30 to 8:30

Hope to see some of you there

charity projects.

So, you want to knit something, got your fingers aching for a project, but you don't know what to knit or waiting for the yarn order to come in?

Well how about a charity knitting project? Our group has been working on a couple of charity projects. The first one is the Desert Banner Auxiliary, in which we knit or crochet items for preemies, babies or other items for patients in need. Mostly chemo caps and lap blankets. We make a few deliveries through out the year to them.

The second charity that we are knitting/crocheting for is the Thomas J. Pappas School. We are collecting nine inch by nine inch knit or crochetd squares to make afghans. So far we have a total of 53 squares in. We would like to have a few blankets to turn in by the fall of this year.

Don't know what to knit? There are some wonderful sites out there that have great patterns.

www.knitting.about.com

These ar just a few sites that have great patterns available. I will try to add more to the list.

A very brief history and our next meet up.

As promised, this is the second, more up to date post about our local SNB group.

A little history about our group...the Phoenix "chapter" was started by Kim Dallas in December of 2003. Kim is an avid knitter and was looking for fellow knitters to share her hobby. It didn't take long before our group has grown to over 300 members between the Yahoo Group and the E-vite List.

We meet quite often through out the months. Sometimes even two or three times a week. With twice weekly postings, we will try to get every official meet up noted on here. There will be dates posted for each month on the sidebar and links if possible to the shop or to mapquest with the location.

For the rest of the month of March there is one more official meeting planned. It will be on Monday, March 21st at Essenza Coffee House in Mesa, AZ, from 6:30 -8:30 p.m.

We would love to have pictures of our group "outings", works in progress and all sorts of other stuff. So, if you have some you would like to share let us know.

The next post will be focusing on our charity groups.

This is the first post for the Phoenix Stitch 'N Bitch Blog. It is updated twice a week. This blog is to let you know about gatherings, get togethers, charity projects, yarn stores, knitting questions, and anything else we can think of.

There will be more to post later.

Once again, Welcome!
